Heavy! Australia's new R-series passport "!

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has released a new generation of passports, Series R ". Designed, printed and assembled in Australia, the new "R Series" is more secure than the "P Series" passports issued since 2014. Australian passports are regularly upgraded to protect the identity and personal information of passport holders in accordance with international best practices. The "R Series" contains advanced security features that prevent forgery and identity theft, and ultimately ensure the safety of Australians.

As the first Australian passport, "R series". The high-security photo page made of layered plastic makes the passport more difficult to forge and less prone to damage. The Visa page presents 17 iconic Australian landscapes in true color.
DFAT will launch the R Series in phases starting in September 2022. Some customers will continue to receive P-Series passports until the end of 2022. From the beginning of 2023, all customers will receive R-series passports. DFAT stated that the security of both passports is high, as is the way through the airport smart door (SmartGates). The cost of the new passport will remain unchanged. The cost of a replacement passport is A $193 and the cost of applying for a new passport is A $308.
R Series New Passport Features?
The photo page is made of a hard, high-security layered plastic called polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is laser engraved rather than ink printed, and the photos on the photo page are black and white rather than color. At the bottom left of the passport holder's photo is a raised map of Australia, and a slightly smaller photo appears in the transparent window on the right. There are other transparent windows on the photo page that show the passport chip antenna embedded in it.
The remaining visa pages of the R-Series passport also contain works by Aboriginal artists exhibiting iconic Australian landscapes. Under ultraviolet light, these landscapes on the passport will become unique night scenes and show the local native animal species.
